TECHNO SLAVERY

This is what happens to our species when it is disconnected from Nature and isolated from loved ones….subjected to unnatural groupings within confined spaces in remote settings…..and then mesmerized into a trance of perpetual anxiety and escalating expectations of production, dealt out by hyper-paced electronic task masters that steadily hum with clicks, beeps, and whirrs, while cooly demanding that we be sedentary and succumb to their constant and infallible surveillance …… body, mind, and soul fused to a virtual world for eight hours each work day, day after day, week after week, year after year after year……..

IS NATURE GETTING TIRED OF OUR ARROGANCE?

THE REAL PRICE

It was only a matter of time.

The elitist run American mainstream media has finally begun its “we are all to blame” mantra regarding the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. ” Hey, you drive a gas powered car, you are not innocent!”

Like a sheen of oil…they purposely try to disperse the blame far and wide…… to the everyday average American. It’s not being done to awaken you or to evoke positive social change, mind you.  It being done to shame you and thereby take some of the heat off an industry that remains one of their biggest sponsors, with the end game being preserve “the system”.

Always preserve the system.

Afterall, the mainstream media as we know it, depends on the American mass consumption machine for its very survival…..and fossil fuel is what feeds that beast.

The mantra was the same soon after the financial system collapsed back in the Fall of 2008. Spread the blame far and wide for what the elite perpetrated – mainly to the middle class, that way the “status quo” system will be preserved.

And sure enough, it worked… for now anyway.

Never mind that almost every statistic on the books documented that real wages in the middle class had fallen or been stagnant when compared to the true cost of living since the early 80’s.

Never mind that the vast of majority of middle class Americans have not been flipping houses, buying second homes, or “living beyond their means” in other ways for decades…..but instead have been desperately stuck treading water in a system which left them little choice but to use credit for key essentials such as food, shelter, transportation, and secondary education…..IF they wanted themselves and/or their families to remain afloat the in the middle class that is.

Yet “spreading” the shame of this oil disaster continues by the elite run media.

Of course we all use oil. And alot of it.

Oil is in just about every product. Look around the room as you sit…good luck finding an item that is not petroleum based, derived, or dependent. In fact, our country by and large operates and looks like it does because we have had access to such cheap fossil fuel for such a long time.

But Nature is holding up a dead pelican now, a pelican which used to thrive in what could become one horribly degraded ecosystem.

She is showing us just one of the real prices of fossil fuel.

She won’t let us off the hook.

Because Nature doesn’t lie.

But our elite leaders do.

And they have done a pretty damn good job of hiding the real price of fossil fuel from us for a long time – and not just environmentally speaking.

IF you knew the real price of fossil fuel,  would you pay it?

5 MINUTES

Got 5 minutes?

Isn’t it amazing how many of us say we do, but yet so many of us get impatient within a mere 1-2 minutes after telling someone,  “Yes, I do have 5 minutes for you”?

In the Information Age, we demand what we want when we want it, with a simple and effortless “click”……….or expect a voice from the other side of the continent, after pushing a small button with our thumbs.

It’s no wonder.

The fact is that most all of us in mainstream American society today, especially those of us working and/or parenting, the pace we live at has accelerated more in the last 10 years than it has it the last 1,000 years combined.

Many of us feel we barely have time to do something as elemental and sacred as eating – since we are so busy being “productive”.

So we hit the fast food drive-through window….gotta keep moving.

What’s the price of this radical speed in our lives?

One huge price is that is the despite the hyper-connectivity associated with communication technology, we have become disconnected with the dramatically slower natural pace of the natural world….the same natural world that formed us a species over hundreds of thousands of year.

That “old” pace has become completely foreign to most of us.

And as a result of this disconnection, we are suffering not just physically, which has been fairly well documented to date, but also mentally and emotionally.

Recently, science has begun to document that a mere 5 minute walk in a “green” natural setting, or even 5 minutes of simply being stationary in a natural setting yet interacting with Nature, has scientifically measurable positive effects on human attention span, memory, lucidity, and creativity.

This brief experience also stimulates elevated levels of dopamine and other “feel-good” endorphins in the mind and body…actually leading to feelings of higher “self-esteem”.

Furthermore, this “Nature break” measurably reduces the level of cortisol in your body…a hormone you really don’t want coursing through your system unless you are being chased by a lion.

Are you being chased by a lion called “technology”….almost every day……almost all day…..in the year 2010?

So … just for 5 minutes, “reject the pace” and go outside, and listen to the primal voice inside you.

Or are you too busy?http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/05/100502080414.htm

LOVE AMERICAN STYLE

Take a good look at this.

This is what America’s ignorance looks like.

As I write this, our slimy, toxic, and reeking ignorance ….is drifing toward the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts in the form of a massive oil slick.

It’s as if we are about to be force-fed our own bile.

Yet, at this moment, most of us still remain head-over-heels in love with all of our technology. It can do no wrong.  It will always save us.

Our ability to drill deep holes into the Earth’s ocean floor, and then extract the hydrocarbons, so we can make plastic and power our fancy machines with it…..impresses us so.

Our starry eyes don’t blink.

But the blindness of that love, has lead to this ignorance.

And our ability to communicate through “texts” and “tweets” over oceans about this very catastrophe, blows away our love sick minds, even though whales have been communicating across oceans…….for eons.

The eons upon eons before primal man even emerged.

Yet we’ll continue to clamor and fuss over the next great electronic communication gizmo…and get so excited… and distracted.

We are deepy and madly in love, indeed.

As of late, I have a primal feeling that the Earth is not impressed with our latest technologies, and that we are going to get only so many “tough-love” warnings from her.

Today, Going Primal advocate Bill McKibben was on NPR.  He was giving out some warnings of his own. Try listening to Bill out of love for the Earth, not the fear of her.

Because it’s the Earth we need to fall in love with.

THE NATION THAT “CRIED WOLF”

On the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, the sinking of  the “Deepwater Horizon”  in the Gulf of Mexico today oozes irony.

From the killer bee invasion that never was……… to Y2K…….to the H1N1 virus……….people in the USA have a right to be cynical about believing our mainstream media’s coverage of  “man-made global warming”.

But don’t forget – the boy was eventually eaten by the wolf.

And….what if man-made global warming is not about “believing” or “not believing”?
